6.6 million people are currently in the criminal justice system in the United States. On this episode, Alyssa sits down with Van Jones to talk about prison reform, restorative justice, and his CNN series, “The Redemption Project.”

From his work as CEO of the REFORM Alliance, which aims to dramatically reduce the number of people who are unjustly under the control of the criminal justice system, to his CNN series which explores the restorative justice process, Van Jones has been working to change how the prison system works in our country. He talks about the dignity for incarcerated women initiative, the importance of probation and parole reform, how we bring back empathy and compassion, the right to vote, and more.
